Welcome to Monkey Chaser Tours! We are a family operated, environmentally
friendly, tour company based out of Ontario, Canada. The tours are hosted by my husband, Paul, and
of course myself, Patricia.
I recently started this blog in order to share why we started Monkey Chaser Tours and to share my experience with those who also caught the travel bug along the way.

| Each spider monkey has a unique personality |
- provide participants with an educational ecotour of primate habitat. Participants will learn about local issues which are directly impacting the long term sustainability of primate populations (e.g., pet trade, bush meat, etc). The information will be presented in a way that represents local land owners and families who rely on industries which are hindering primate survival.
- support the local economy by visiting locally owned family lodges and restaurants to ensure that our money has the greatest impact. Think sustainable tourism. Each tour will spend at least one night at a lodge which practices sustainable living off of the grid.
- support projects which encourage fair trade (i.e., meaningful employment for fair wages and human rights). Local field guides are hired at various sites to provide participants with a local perceptive while helping support their families.
| Returned to the wild |
- select local operators who encourage sustainable tourism through the use of appropriate energy technologies, locally produced goods, recycling and environmentally appropriate waste treatment.
- travel with the environment in mind; the true definition of ecotourism. Primates depend on a healthy ecosystem and thus Monkey Chaser Tours utilizes every opportunity to reduce the tour's carbon footprint. Restaurants, for example, need to offer organic produce from local, sustainable crops. All restaurants will have vegetarian options. Small hotels and family run lodges are selected based on their commitment to reducing their environmental impact.

- teach participants about the culture by visiting various heritage sites and through interactions with local field guides. While Monkey Chaser Tours is run by Patricia, who has an advanced degree in primatology, local guides are also hired in order to help support the local economy.
